Trekking and Overnight Camping in Knuckles Mountain
Named after its uncanny likeness to human knuckles, the Knuckles Mountain Range is a gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular spot for hikers.Knuckles range also called Dumbara mountain range is located off Kandy, in the northern end of Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. To the south and east of the mountain range is Mahaweli river basin while to the west are Matale plains. In this tour you will be provided with Dinner, lunch, breakfast, refreshments and a helper and a guide will be escorting you throughout the whole tour. You will be starting your Knuckles adventure from Mahiyangana road from Kandy and you will be transferred another 18 Kilometers inland. You will be starting the trek through home spice gardens, vegetable fields, rice fields, tea plantation, pigmy forests and plateaus. The trek is altogether 16 kilometers and you are expected to encounter with Deer, Barking deer Deer monkey and various types of Lizards and during this trek you will be climbing from altitude of 1200 ft to 1850 ft from the sea level. At the end of the trek you will be rewarded with chance to swim and bath in a natural basin of a waterfall. As the night falls you will be camping in the mobile tented camp and lit a campfire and experience the starry night sky over your head and you can sleep soundly in your mobile camp.
The next day breaks you will be greeted with sounds of the birds in the distance forests and after the breakfast other half of your trekking trip will start. You will be trekking through tea plantation, pine forest, a typical kandyan village and rice fields you will be able to witness the village culture and same time witness various birds. This is an awesome trekking adventure if you are a nature lover. At the end of the trek you will be transferred back to Kandy.
