Adams peak is also known as Sri Pada is Located in a beautiful area of the southern Hill Country, this lofty peak has sparked the imagination for centuries and been a focus for pilgrimage for more than 1000 years. Buddhist in Sri Lanka believes that the sacred footprint of Gautama Buddha is situated in there and they also believe it’s the adobe of the god “Sumana Saman” who protects the sacred footprint of Gautama Buddha.
On this adventurous hiking trip you will be climbing the most venerated 5500 steps of Adam’s Peak.You will have options of engaging this Hiking trip either in season or off season. If you are going this trip in season there are lot of chances that you will witness centuries old rituals that are practiced by the pilgrims that are connected with the Adam’s Peak history.In the season time there are lot of small boutiques made for the season time that makes your hiking more easier . In the off season there is less crowd and the boutiques are also removed and chances are that you will miss the rituals that are practiced by the pilgrims.
In this embarking journey you will be climbing the Adam’s Peak via Hatton-Maskeliya road at Nallathanniya.Nallathaniya is translated to English is pure- water. You will start this embarking journey early in the morning and reach the peak of the summit for the main attraction of the journey “ The rise of the dancing sun”. You can view the breathtaking scenery around at the dawn. We will be descending the summit after the sunrise.
The off the beaten path will begin once you start the climbing down from the summit.You will climb down via a remote path through natural reserved forest. While passing you will come across animals such as deer,mouse deer, various butterflies beautiful birds and sometimes even elephants. You will be coming across remote tea estates gushing streams with ice cold water and beautiful fish that fills it. you will come across waterfalls that finds their way down from the green forest.
